Slógaigí i mBéal Feirste ar son na Gaeilge

Ghlaoigh Oifigeach Chultúir Ógra Shinn Féin Senan Mac Aoidh ar ghníomhaithe Ógra agus ar an phobal i gcoitinne freastal ar Cheiliúradh na Gaeilge i mBéal Feirste ar an 16ú Feabhra.

Arsa Mac Aoidh,

‘beidh seo ina cheiliúradh ar an Ghaeilge, é ag éileamh chearta teanga do na sé chondae. Caitheadh le pobal na Gaeilge le dí-mheas, go háirithe ó thuaidh. Bhí beartanna an Aire Chultúir, Ealaíon agus Fóillíochta Edwin poots náireach chuig cearta lucht labhartha na teanga.’

‘tá an Ghaeilge ag fás, le a thuilleadh daoine óga ag roghnú í le labhairt. I mo thuairm tá sí anois níos láidre sna sé chondae ná bhí ó am na críochdheighlte ann. Caithfidh muid leanúint leis an leibhéal seo fhás agus suime sa teanga agus í a fhorbairt.’

‘tá an 16ú feabhra faoi seo uilig. Is ceiliúradh é ar an dteanga agus deis é teachtaireacht shoiléir a chuir go bhfuil an Ghaeilge agus an cultúir ghaelach beo bríomhar in Éirinn.’

Ógra Shinn Féin Culture officer Senan MacAoidh has called on Ógra activists as well as the public to attend a celebration of Irish language in Belfast on February 16th.

McAoidh said,

"This will be celebration of Irish language and will demand language rights for the six counties. The Irish language community in particular the north have been treated with contempt. The recent actions of culture arts and leisure minister Edwin Poots had been disgraceful towards the rights of Irish speakers.

"The Irish language is growing with a more and more young people choosing to speak it. It is my opinion that it is stronger now than at any time since before partition. We must continue to keep and develop this level of growth and interest in the language.

February 16 is about all of this. It is a celebration of the language an opportunity to send a clear message the Irish language and culture is alive an well in Ireland
