On Saturday 1 March, Derry Ógra Shinn Féin successfully launched the national N.A.R.C (Not Another Ravaged Community) campaign by taking part in a public demonstration near the Foyle Embankment.
Niall Doran of Derry Ógra Shinn Féin said:
"Today we have launched the National N.A.R.C campaign in the City of Derry. The main objective of our public demonstration today is to raise public awareness of our National Campaign, and to let the people of Derry know that Ógra Shinn Féin will be addressing the issue of Drug and Alcohol abuse in our city throughout the course of the coming year."
"We hope to host a number of events surrounding the issue of Drug and Alcohol abuse to coincide with this campaign, including a series of public meetings, where young people can have an open debate with Ógra Shinn Féin representatives and local Drug and Alcohol Awareness organisations in order to get the youth's opinion on how we can tackle the worsening issue of Drug and Alcohol abuse in our city, and bring about positive change for communities and families, not just in Derry but throughout Ireland, which have been ravaged by the effects of Drug and Alcohol Abuse."
