Today 21 May 2007, marks the 26th Anniversary of the deaths of two of Ireland's bravest sons. Patsy O'Hara from Derry City and Raymond McCreesh from South Armagh died a horrific slow death on Hungerstrike in Long Kesh Prison.
They volunteered their life to smash the British policy of criminalisation, and to advance the national liberation struggle.
Their heroic and selfless actions alongside their eight brave comrades would be a catalyst in the struggle for freedom and re-ignite a flame that burns strong today.
Both Irish patriots, Patsy and Ray where very young men when they gave their lifes for freedom - as young if not younger than some of the readers of this post.
They had their whole life in front of them - but rather than been labelled a criminal, they took a courageous and conscious decision to confront the Brits head on with Hungerstrike.
Their heroic yet tragic bravery is an inpiration to young Irish Republicans today, to Ógra activists and oppressed youth the world over.
We remember Vol. Patsy O'Hara and Vol. Ray McCreesh with pride!
