Derry Event to Remember Irish Republican Youth’s Patriot Dead

Ógra Shinn Féin ‘Na Fianna Martyrs Cumann’ Doire are urging everyone to attend an event on Saturday 27th June to honour Derry’s Republican Youth, in particular those young people who laid down their lives in pursuit of an Irish Republic.

People are asked to assemble at the Shanty Shops @ 2.30pm for the mural unveiling, book launch and presentation to the fallen Fian and Óglach families. Cllr Elisha McLaughlin, former Ógra Shinn Féin organiser will also be making a speech on the importance of young republicans getting active in the struggle, and the proud history of republican youth in Derry.

In order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Na Fianna Éireann, Ógra Shinn Féin Doire has compiled a book about the local Fians and the Volunteers who were active in Na Fianna.

The event will also include the unveiling of a mural of the National Fianna Eireann Roll of Honour from 1969 – 1981.

The mural will be unveiled by one of the local Fian’s family members, and all families will be presented a special edition book by Martin Mc Guinness, Martina Anderson, Raymond McCartney and Mitchell Mc Laughlin as well as the young Ógra activists who made the book.

Please make every effort to attend and demonstrate your respect for Irish Republican Youth’s patriot dead. Bígí Linn!
