Free Pól Brennan Information day in Strabane

Ógra Shinn Féin were on the streets of Strabane this weekend (Saturday 1st November) to highlight the ongoing issues surrounding the incarceration and deportation threat faced by Republican Pól Brennan in the USA.

The activists from the Tobias Molloy Ógra Shinn Féin cumann deployed an information stall in the town centre from early morning. Speaking on the event Chairperson of Strabane ÓSF Seán Mac Giolla Easpaig said;

“We organised today’s action in solidarity with our imprisoned comrade Pól Brennan Who unjustly faces deportation over controversy which began with him being detained at a Texas road block in January of this year.”

“From early Saturday morning until 2:30 we collected signatures for the petition and engaged with the public on this issue. I think that today’s event was a success giving the fact that a lot of people were unaware of the issue and were very keen to support the campaign by signing the petition. We were especially grateful for the support we received from the ex-pow community with many of them commenting on the hardships faced by ex political prisoners such as Pól.”

“We collected 800 signatures today and we will be on the doorsteps in the coming weeks to collect further signatures and messages of support, and this petition will then be sent to the Pól Brennan campaign group.”
