Dublin Colleges Tour – A Success in Everyway

A large number of republican students descended on Dublin last week, for a series of historical tours, educational talks, not to mention a few social gatherings to cement friendships and camaraderie.

The republican students engaged in a number of tours including the Dublin Historical Tour and Glasnevin cemetery provided by the excellent tour guide and endless fountain of knowledge, Pat Finley.

The Sinn Féin activists also visited the Battle of the Boyne visitor centre, and Leinster House, where Sinn Féin TD’s Martin Ferris, Arthur Morgan and Aengus O’Snodaigh addressed the assembled group on the workings of the Sinn Féin team in Leinster House. They explained how young activists can assist in this work, and also help in increasing Sinn Féin representation and a republican voice through campus and community activism.


Speaking on a very successful and enjoyable event, QUB student activist Grace Lynch said,

“The event which was organised by the Uladh Sinn Féin Colleges Comhairle Ceantair, provided a forum for young republican students to learn about Irish and republican history, share organisational ideas, and discuss and debate the future direction of Sinn Féin and indeed Ireland.”

“It was brilliant to meet with young republican students like myself from different campuses across Ireland, and it was excellent to engage with our TD’s in Leinster house, who took time out of a busy schedule, prioritising the opportunity to meet with a new generation of republican activists. The discussion and debate with them was extremely enjoyable and far reaching, touching on many topics, of relevance to both students and young people alike. The event was a success in every way and we are already setting the foundations for a bigger and better event next year.”
