Ógra now on Facebook!

Ógra Shinn Féin has now established itself on the international social networking site Facebook, set up on Saturday the 9th of August the National Ógra Facebook site has already added more than 250 people to the site as friends.

Michael Grey the national director of recruitment for Ógra has described the success as impressive. ‘’This site has only being in existence for three days and already 250 people have added themselves to the site and left messages of solidarity. He continued ‘’There is no question that Bebo is number 1 when it comes to social networking in Ireland, however when it comes to the international stage the big players are increasingly Facebook and MySpace.’’

‘’As part of our continued effort to recruit new members and spread the Republican message, we must find different ways to reach people and expanding onto sites like Facebook is one way of doing it.’’

‘’If Bebo and E-mail are anything to go by then Facebook should reap rewards for us.’’

It is also hoped that the site will soon become trilingual with Irish, French and English being the three working languages. ‘’This is something new, and it is important that we educate and build support around the world for Irish unity and one way of doing that is communicating with as many people as possible.’’

If people are on Facebook then add yourself to the National Ógra Shinn Féin site at: http://www.facebook.com
