Ógra Colour party hounours Volunteers

Ógra Shinn Féin in Fermanagh recently participated in a colour party in a local commemoration in the border area of Knockatallon.

The commemoration, which last year formed part of the National Youth Camp, is held annually in the memory of the various volunteers who had spent time in the Knockatallon and Monaghan/Fermanagh area but where later killed on active service or as a result of British State Collusion.

Speaking afterwards, Ciaran May of Fermanagh Ógra said,

"The Ógra colour party for the commemoration is fitting, given the role of young people in the most recent phase of our struggle. We are very proud to remember those volunteers who fought and died having spent time in this part of the world, many of them young volunteers. We are also very glad to be among the very fine republican community of this area, who displayed tremendous resilience over many years in the face of severe provocation, and who never wavered in their support for republican activists.''

He added,

'It's a great honour for Ógra to be asked to lead the commemoration, and those many volunteers remain a true inspiration to us in Fermanagh Ógra.'
