West Belfast Ogra Shinn Fein activists joined a number of senior party members at the Sinn Fein stall where an increased number of students applied to join the party.
Among the Sinn Fein representatives present were MEP Bairbre de Brun, Belfast Mayor Tom Hartley, Colin councillor Charlene O'Hara, Paul Maskey MLA, Paul Butler MLA, John O'Dowd MLA and Sue Ramsey MLA.
Councillor O'Hara, herself a student at the college, said:
'The Sinn Fein recruitment stall proved to be a massive success. There was great interest in the literature and in what the Sinn Fein representatives present had to say. The number of students that put their name down to apply to join the party was excellent.'
Sinn Fein MEP Bairbre de Brun applauded the Ogra activists for the effort they put into their stall and said:
'Young people are the next generation of political leadership on this island. It was fantastic watching so many of them apply to join.
'Their energy, enthusiasm and ability can only benefit the Sinn Fein project to achieve a free and equal Ireland.
'The knowledge of the political situation articulated by many of the students that I spoke to showed a deep level of interest in the future of this island.
'The support we received from many of the students for Sinn Fein's position on the political process was encouraging and affirmed for me the depth of opposition among nationalists and republicans to the DUP's attempts to block equality.
'I was very pleased to be invited to this event by west Belfast Ogra Shinn Fein.'
