CIT's Niamh Kerins and Joe Lynch were assisted by Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire and David Collins of the UCC Martin Hurson Cumann in collecting a large number of signatures from prospective members and generating quite an interest among the student population.
With a flurry of political activism expected on campus following the election of the Student Union President as Mayor of Bandon, Ógra aim to beat the forefront in the year ahead and beyond.
Likewise, in UCC the Martin Hurson cumann looks forward to a succesful year promising societies day. Cathaoirleach Seán Ó Sé had this to say
UCC's Alan Conway
'The cumann recieved among the highest number of signatures of any political society on campus. We aim to be the most active group in UCC this year and follow on from our hard work last year. We have already had a number of meetings and attended a philsoph debate on lisbon featuring Toireasa Ferris, and hopefully we can push on from this positive start to the year.' l to r Joe Lynch, Tony Black, Seán Ó Sé, Niamh McConigley

just curious, is that Karl Marx on that poster (between Adams and Ferris)?
we're socialist sure - a pic of James Connolly for instance would have illustrated this nicely, but who told these kids we were Marxist Communists? - i must have missed that meeting...
Jesus lads that poster of Karl Marx and Gerry Adams is wild.
