Victory to Rossport on Friday 9th November!

“We declare the right of the people of Ireland to the ownership of Ireland, and to the unfettered control of Irish destinies, to be sovereign and indefeasible.”
1916 Proclamation

There will be a National Day of Action for the beseiged community of Rossport this Friday 9th November.

Ógra Shinn Féin are urging all progressive activists to mobilise in defence of Ireland’s natural resources and in solidarity with the oppressed community of Rossport.

The tiny community are demonstrating huge resilience in defiance of tyrannical multi-nationals and a colluding state, who are deploying the Garda to baton charge citizens who are simply championing the true spirit of the 1916 proclamation.

We would urge as many activists to travel to Rossport for the 9th November. The priority should be to travel to Co. Mayo to stand shoulder to shoulder with the local community who 1 year ago, where baton charged, beaten and arrested for daring to stand up for the rights and safety of their families and children.

For those not able to travel, Ógra activists should be organising local events to demonstrate solidarity and highlight the plight of Rossport and the wider Shell to Sea campaign.

On Friday 9th November let us rise and send a clear message,

“Victory to Rossport!”

“In the language of our first President. Pádraíg Mac Phiarais, we declare that the Nation's sovereignty extends not only to all men and women of the Nation, but to all its material possessions, the Nation's soil and all its resources, all the wealth and all the wealth-producing processes within the Nation, and with him we reaffirm that all right to private property must be subordinated to the public right and welfare.”

Will Ógra have a report up from Rossport and the other pickets they organised on the day (such as in Belfast)?

RTÉ have some footage of Óisín getting thrown around on their site. http://www.rte.ie/news/2007/1109/corrib.html
