Ógra Shinn Féin National Congress Date Change

Barry McColgan

Ógra Shinn Féin

Ógra Shinn Féin have decided to put the date of their National Congress back until the weekend of 18 – 20 January.

The decision was taken by the Ógra National Executive on Saturday 20th October after concerns where raised with the current National Congress date clashing with upcoming crucial Sinn Féin Cuige Strategy Meetings.

Recognising that at this moment of time the political and organisational importance of the cuige conferences, and a will to ensure maximum attendance and input at the National Congress influenced the decision to put the date back.

Although not ideal circumstances, the date change now allows Ógra activists across the country to play a crucial role in the Cuige conferences, to further promote the Congress and it allows for more activists especially new College cumann which are just getting on their feet to make a commitment to attend.

The clár will broadly remain unchanged, although their will be the addition of a guest speaker and their will be a new National Ógra Campaign launched.
