ARISE for May Day!

Today, May 1st (May Day) is the annual international day of workers, of socialism. Ógra Shinn Féin is a socialist organisation, an organisation of young workers and trade unionists. A youth movement organised to promote equality, empowerment and to campaign for the ending of exploitation.

We take our lead from the Easter Proclamation 1916, and the democratic programme, both documents clearly outline our ultimate objective to be a Free 32 County Democratic Socialist Republic.

Yes we want to see, and will achieve a National Republic, but we are also Internationalists and we want to hold the Irish Socialist Republic as a beacon so that other nations may follow in our footsteps. We want to express and demonstrate true solidarity to other nations occupied and exploited by the imperialists and neo – colonialists.

The ARISE campaign issue for the month of May will be workers rights and anti exploitation and we have already kick started the campaign at the National May Day Rally in Dublin on Sunday 29 May.

We also will be marking May Day, with Ógra activists across Ireland active in commemorating the day in a suitable manner.

But the remainder of May must also be used in order to promote workers rights and to challenge exploitation both locally, nationally and internationally.

We must ARISE for the month of May and forever in solidarity with the respectable, incorruptible working class.
