Ógra Attend Arab American Action Network, Chicago USA

Ógra activist and Cllr. Johnny McGibbon has been Chicago this weekend, on a tour organised by Irish Northern Aid. The first event on his tour was a workshop with the Arab American Action Network.

Cllr. McGibbon said,
"It’s a fantastic experience for me as a young Republican. We discussed the Irish struggle and the current situation in Palestine, as well as various social issues of importance in Ireland and downtown Chicago."
The workshop was held in a community centre in downtown Chicago, run by the Arab American Action Network but attended by young people from various different sections of the community. The work shop was made up of young women from the Chicago area, many of whom are of Palestinian descent.
Cllr. McGibbon continued,
"It was extremely interesting to explore the parallels, the similarities and even some differences in the situation in Palestine and the history of the Irish Struggle. This was a group of very political aware young people and I know they appreciate the support of Irish Republicans for their people."
Johnny continues his tour over the next few weeks.
