West Tyrone Ógra Visit IRA POWs

West Tyrone Ógra Shinn Fein kick-started prisoner’s month on Saturday by visiting the IRA POWs in Castlerea Jail, Co. Roscommon. The visit was taken as a part of a series of events in the West Tyrone area which will culminate in a day of action on Saturday 22nd of December in Omagh and Strabane.

Speaking following the visit chairperson of west Tyrone Ógra, Barry McNally called for the release of IRA POWs who remain incarcerated this Christmas. He said

“The issue of IRA POWs still remaining in jail although an end has been brought to the armed campaign is an issue of great anger to republicans. The Dublin government in particular have held these men in jail despite clear signs from the leadership of Óglaigh na hÉireann that this phase of the armed conflict is at an end. Certainly we in Ógra Shinn Fein will continue with our Saoirse campaign until we see the eventual release of IRA political hostages, whether they are held in Ireland or further a field.

Delighted that some people still remember that we have lads in Prison, there seems to be no obvious campaign to bring them home, the Rossport 5 got more attention, shocking
