Have the SDLP finally abandoned their arm bands and taken the plunge. It would appear from the this picture on their website they have now jumped in bed with the swimmers aka Socialist Workers Party.
People Before Profit, the 'popular' front for the Socialist Workers Party, a convenient banner to contest elections under.
Either some misinformed Stoopers unknowingly posed with the poster or this is yet another step in the SDLP to becoming a fully fledged 'revolutionary' party.
For years we had to listen to his holyness John Hume preach that 'we' were post nationalist and that 'we' were all European now. Then with the electoral rise of Sinn Féin and with it the popular growth of Republicanism, the SDLP jumped on the bandwagon - casting aside the messiah's gospel.
So following their conversion to Republicanism and Mark Durkan's endless quoting of the 1916 Proclamation, could the 'think tanks' in Stoop HQ now be casting Social Democracy aside in pursuit of Marx.
I wonder will General Secretary Durkan have approval from comrade Attwood and Kelly?

Lol, very good the poor stoops havn't got a clue!
I see the SDLP took the pic down on their main website..
Maybe their asshamed of their swimming ties lol
What's wrong with the SWP?
I think you're putting the cart before the horse here. "People before profit" is a very common slogan that is still used by different groups of people up and down the country, from community activists to anti-globalisation activists. The SWP have merely taken the slogan as the name of their group, the People Before Profit Alliance. It doesn't mean they own it.
Of course Ciaran,
Well firstly the piece is satire and secondly the stoop youth and attwood are actually standing with a SWP Placard.
They were distributing them at a recent student protest at Stormont - i know i was there.
Take your point a chara, but chill out the piece was a bita craic!! :)

The 2 lassies pictured are member of the QUB SDLP. I think that's all the members they have!
Ogra have 10 councillors in the students union. The stoops only have 1.
No problem, I never knew they were actually holding a SWP/PBP placard. Were there many people at that protest?
Still it's interesting that the SDLP would want to appear anywhere near that slogan, considering what their Minister for Social Development up at Stormont is trying to have done to the old Andytown barracks site.
