Rock Against The Treaty- The Aftermath!

"Rath mór ar an oíche" a deir eagraithe Roc In Éadan An Chonartha. Tá baill Ógra Shinn Féin anseo i Muineacháin ar bís leis an oíche ar 31 Bealtaine, an Sathairn seo chuaigh thart nuair a tháinig Ógra Shinn Féin agus roc-bhannaí áitiúla le chéile chun fearg a léiriú do fhrith-dhaonlathas an rialtais agus iad ag iarraidh an Conradh Liospóin a bhrú síos ár scórnaigh. Tá daoine de dhíth i gcónaí, fiú dream beag chun seasamh suas in éadan a leithead d'iompar agus rinneadh sin ar an oíche úd. Tá daoine óga bréan den bholscaireacht agus den bhréagadóireacht, agus dar leis na sluaite ar an Sathairn tá gá le níos mó ócáidí den saghas seo.

"A great success" say the organisers of Rock Against the Treaty. Members of Ógra Shinn Féin (Sinn Féin Youth) here in Monaghan are overwhelmed with the positive response on the night, 31 May, Saturday last when Ógra Shinn Féin and local rock bands teamed up to protest at the anti-democratic behaviour of the government, with them forcing the Lisbon treaty down our throats. Young people in Monaghan find it repulsive how the government is misleading people about this treaty, blatantly using propaganda and lies. It takes people, even a small group to stand up to this kind of nonsense, and this was done effectively on Saturday. According to the crowds on the night, more of these kind of events are needed.

Ag seinnt ag an cheolchoirm bhí, 'Gascan Ruckus' as Coillidh Chanannain(Middletown), Co.Ard Mhacha, 'Afflictions of a Massacre' as an Bhoth(scotstown) agus 'Dominican Affair' as ceantar maguaird Mhuineacháin. Chas siad uilig iontach maith ar an oiche le meascán mairí ceoil. Punc go Func, Miotal trom go bliúanna.

'Gascan Ruckus' from Middletown play 'Contemporary punk', their lyrics are inspired by unhealthy obsessions and irrational thinking. They are influenced by Led Zeppelin, Queens of the Stone Age and Rancid. 'Afflictions of a Massacre' as their name hints, are a blend of heavy metal and death metal and their influences include Rage Against The Machine and Thin Lizzy. 'Dominican Affair' on the other hand represented a funkier style of music on the night, with songs from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the Gossip along with their originals. They wrote one song specifically for the event called, 'Rock Against The Treaty' which went down very well with the crowd.

Oíche thaithneamhach ach le trachtaireacht shoiléir a bhí ann. Tá dóchas ann go raibh tiochar éigean aici ar thuairmí daoine faoi Choradh Liospóin agus deir Ógra Shinn Féin go bhfuil siad ag leanstan ar aghaidh len a bhfeachtas ar fud na tíre. Tá Ógra ag rá le daoine sa cheantar bí ar an ardaill, go mbeidh Ógra i bhfad níos feiceálaí i rith an tsamhraidh seo.
