Sé an buaiteoir ná... (and the winner is...)

A winner has been named for the Ógra Bodhrán raffled by Ógra Cúige Laighean. The lucky name was picked out following the most recent Cúige meeting. The winner is Oliver Mc Geough from Co. Louth, who will receive his bodhrán in the coming week. Prior to the draw Ógra Cúige Laighean held a very successful meeting, electing a new Cúige organiser and officer board.

Speaking after the meeting new Organiser, Peadar de Bluit, said:

"Firstly I would like to congratulate Oliver on winning the bodhrán. In terms of Cúige Laighean I am very glad we have elected a new organiser to continue the excellent work done under Eugene Garvey during the past few years. Since I began working with Ógra in Leinster, we have seen massive strides forward, from a virtually inactive region, to what is now the second strongest Cúige in the country. Today, we have activists in each county who are busy developing Ógra in their local areas, in a lot of cases closely assisted by Sinn Féin cumainn, and comhairle ceantair. As we come into the summer it is our hope that we can develop Ógra in these areas so that we might have Ógra cumainn in each county in Leinster - which would be a great achievement."

"The first order of business however is securing a NO vote in the upcoming Libson Treaty. Ógra activists have been hard at work in their local areas doing their utmost to convince people in Leinster that ratifying the Lisbon Treaty is certainly not in the interests of the Irish people and that it should be sent back to be re-negotiated. With only a week left it is now time for a final push to make that NO vote a certainty on June 12. This Saturday at 2pm, a Youth Rally will be taking place outside the EU offices, in Dublin Dawson street. The aim of the rally is to raise awareness, and push for a rejection of the treaty, and Ógra Cúige Laighean intend on having a strong representation at that rally, and I would urge Ógra activists across the country to do the same."

"Tá Ógra Shinn Féin Cúige Laigean ag dul ó neart go neart, leis an bhfoireann nua atá ag stirúadh an Cúige tá sé mar rún againn leanúint leis an obair seo agus barr feabhais a cur air. Fáiltímid roimh Poblachtánaigh óga teacht chugainn agus gníomhú linn ag sinne ag iarraidh leanúint ar ár mbealach Éire Saor, agus Sóisialach a chur i gcrích. Leis an mborradh a tháinig ar an gceantar seo le déanaí níl aon rud ag cur bac orainn leanúint ar aghaidh agus an Cúige seo a dhéanamh níos mó agus níos fearr ins an t-am atá le teacht."
