Ógra Shinn Féin Blitz Sligo/North Leitrim in Youth Canvass

Ógra Shinn Féin organised a youth canvass of Sligo/North Leitrim on Saturday 19th May in preparation for the 26 County General Election.

A busload of activists made the journey through Manorhamilton and Sligo town, asking people to give Sinn Féin candidate, Sean McManus their vote in the forthcoming election. Ógra activists leafleted all of Sligo's main streets, shopping centres, and held a canvass with the candidate, Sean McManus and Sinn Féin Ard Comhairle member Mitchell McLaughlin.

Thousands of leaflets were distributed throughout Sligo and Sean got a very positive response from shoppers and passers by.

National Organiser of Ógra, Barry McColgan speaking at the youth canvass said,

“We went out in Sligo to target and boost the youth vote and to help our comrades in the 26 counties, this is the advantage of having an All Ireland party."

"During the canvass we got a great response from the people on the streets and the feedback was very positive. Ógra Shinn Féin have carried out many actions in the run up to the election and youth canvasses have been very beneficial in promoting voting amongst the youth. We hope from the successful canvass of Sligo, that we have contributed to the success of a future Sinn Féin TD.”
