Ógra Shinn Féin send delegation to International Youth Conference in Corsica

An Ógra Shinn Féin delegation is in Corsica this week to take part in Scontri internazionale, an international youth conference. The main theme will be native languages and their relevance to national liberation struggles.

The conference is organised by the Corsican youth movement Ghjuventu Indipendentista, and will also have organisations from the Basque Country, Catalan Countries and Sardinia amongst others in attendance.

Ógra International Officer Orlagh McCauley speaking on the conference said,

“Ógra Shinn Féin has built up strong links with many youth wings across Europe and the World in recent years. These active solidarity links are vastly important to us as an Internationalist organisation, who strongly advocates Connolly’s call for a ‘free federation of free people’s.’ We believe in true independence for small nations.”

“While language is the main theme of this conference, it will be a further opportunity to develop common work plans, and discuss important issues like the upcoming Lisbon Treaty, and the pivotal role Ireland can play in No campaign.”
