QUB Ógra Shinn Féin launch NARC

Today 6th February the Sheena Campbell Cumman of Ógra Shinn Féin QUB launched the NARC campaign at the front of the university and the Students Union.

Chairperson Eunan Carlin said that,

“The issue of drug and alcohol awareness is very important to our youth today, and especially to our students. Students are faced with drugs and alcohol on a daily basis, and on a larger scale than the majority of people.”

“There was over 1000 of the national NARC leaflets distributed throughout the students union and the Holyland areas.”

“QUB Ógra, have taken the NARC campaign on as a priority and would urge every cumann in Ireland to something, anything.”

“As Bobby Sands once said, ‘Every Republican or otherwise has there own particular part to play, no part to big, or to small.”
Grace Lynch of QUB Ógra continued,

“We as young Republicans have a duty to educate our young people on the issue of drugs and alcohol abuse, there needs to be more action from government in the time ahead and this will be a pivotal focus of the campaign.”

“There needs to be more information to Ireland’s youth on what exactly are the long term health implications are with drug and alcohol abuse.”

“The NARC campaign is a massive responsibility for Ógra as it gives us the opportunity once again to show the youth of Ireland and the communities from which they come that we have their best interests at heart.”

“Also in concluding I would like to point out that NARC is not a lecturing, finger wagging campaign, but rather one of empowering Ireland’s future in this generation and the ones that follow through the medium of health education and understanding.”
