Ógra blitz Ballycastle

Ógra activists from throughout the north, gathered in Ballycastle on Saturday to assist Daithi McKay in his bid for the North Antrim seat in the upcoming Westminster General Election.

The young republicans were spurred on by the great weather as they canvassed the majority of the town.

It was the first of many youth canvasses to be organised by Ógra throughout the election, and no better place to start than with the Assembly's youngest MLA.

Speaking on the youth canvass in Ballycastle, Ógra Uladh organiser Fra Cochrane said,
"We had a great response at the doors from young and old alike, and many were very complimentary of the hard work conducted by Sinn Féin and by Daithi in the area."
"The upcoming election will be key to ensuring that Sinn Féin remains the number one party in the north of Ireland, and in maximising the nationalist and republican vote in advance of next years Assembly election."
"Ógra will play their part and do their utmost for the next few weeks to ensure the maximum number of young people are turning out to vote Sinn Féin on May 6th. From youth election broadcasts, canvasses targeting young people, utilising social networks, painting murals to launching a youth manifesto, we will aim to engage with the maximum number of youth."
