Easter Lily promoted in Newry

Ógra Shinn Féin have been busy in Newry promoting the Easter Lily through the use of graffiti. Republicans have a right to commemorate their patriot dead and the wearing of the Easter Lily is just one way of doing this.

Speaking on the action Conor Fearon of Newry and South Armagh Ógra said,

"We as young republicans must continue to encourage the wearing of the Easter Lily among the wider community as a means of remembering our fallen comrades."

"Through this action we have attempted to promote the wearing of the Easter Lily among the people of Newry, and we are also calling for equal status to be given to the Easter Lily in the workplace."

"These stencils, which are sprayed in various places throughout the city, are aimed at raising awareness of this campaign and sending a clear message to the public - Remember our patriot dead, wear an Easter Lily!"
